When you're in your 20s, you're a little more carefree; you're single. You have a very different way of looking at the world and experiencing the world. But later in your 30s, when you have children, a career, career obstacles, mortgages, car payments and relationships, you have to negotiate; that's a very different life.
There are roles for all types of movies. I mean, you still want to watch the urban movies, and they need to be told. You still want to see something you haven't seen before.
You have to have an attitude that nothing's gonna stop me. I think that's just my New York kind of attitude - survival of the fittest.
'The Best Man' was my first feature film, and I didn't want to be known as a director who only does romantic comedies.
